The msg marathon takes you back to the rhythm of the mountains, through the Apuseni Mountains and their fairytale landscapes! Discover Romania at a running pace!

For those coming from abroad or visiting the region for the first time, this is the perfect opportunity for an active weekend exploring the Mote villages and the nature reserve. The marathon, sponsored for many years by our partner msg. Romania, is part of both the Carpathian Circuit and the ITRA-accredited races (2 p) and the UTMB pre-qualification series.

Why run the Apuseni marathon once in your life?

Running a marathon is a formative and transformative experience. You will learn that discipline brings results, that your life changes when you really put your body in motion and that anything is possible when you really want it and work towards that goal.

But for each of us, one of the most memorable moments is when you sit down to remember what you saw during the run, on each route. Some of the memorable sights on the 44.8 km route with an elevation gain of 2531 m that you will enjoy to the fullest are:

  • the Scăriţa-Belioara geo-botanical reserve
  • the panorama from Pietrele Mărunte
  • the huts in Zăpodie and Știolne
  • the viewpoint towards the Coșul Boului arch
  • the Bocșești area, Săgagea

The start will be at 8:00 a.m., and the maximum time limit is 10 hours. There will be 5 refreshment points and 9 checkpoints, plus teams of volunteers to cheer you on along the route! According to most runners, this is a must-do route in Romania, so we invite you to give it a try!
